  1. Chhavi Rajawat (born 1980) is an Indian politician. She is the sarpanch of her village Soda, 60 kilometres from Jaipur. She is an MBA graduate. She left her corporate career with one of the country's biggest telecom firms to become sarpanch of her ancestral village. She has been working ever since to bring better water, solar power, paved roads, toilets and a bank into the village.

  2. Samira Ibrahim is an Egyptian activist who came to prominence during the Egyptian revolution. On 9 March 2011, she participated in a sit-in at Tahrir Square in Cairo.

  3. Oscar Leonard Carl Pistorius is a South African sprint runner. Although both of Pistorius' legs were surgically removed below the knee when he was 11 months old, he competes in events for single below-knee amputees and for able-bodied athletes.

  4. Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani school pupil and education activist from the town of Mingora in the Swat District of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. She is the youngest nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize in history.

  5. Anjali Gopalan was born in 1957 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Her father was an officer in the Indian Air Force and her mother a homemaker. She studied in both India and the US.She is the founder and executive director of The Naz Foundation (India) Trust, an NGO dedicated to the fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic in India.

  6. Donald Robert Sadoway is the current John F. Elliott Professor of Materials Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a faculty member in the Department of Materials Science Engineering. He is a noted expert on batteries.

  7. Salman Amin "Sal" Khan is a Bangladeshi American educator, entrepreneur and former hedge fund analyst. He is the founder of the Khan Academy, a free online education platform and nonprofit organization. From a small office in his home, Khan has produced more than 4,000 video lessons teaching a wide spectrum of academic subjects, mainly focusing on mathematics and the sciences. As of April 2013, the Khan Academy channel on YouTube attracted 850,000 subscribers and the Khan Academy videos have been viewed over 250 million times.
