  1. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Its headquarters are located in Rome.

  2. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN). Its stated purpose is to contribute to peace and security by promoting international collaboration through education, science, and culture in order to further universal respect for justice, the rule of law, and human rights along with fundamental freedoms proclaimed in the UN Charter. Its headquarters are located in Paris, France.

  3. The World Bank is an international financial institution that provides loans to developing countries for capital programmes. The World Bank's official goal is the reduction of poverty. Its headquarters are located in Washington, D.C.

  4. The World Health Organization (WHO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations (UN) that is concerned with international public health. It was established on 7 April 1948. Its headquarters are located in Geneva, Switzerland.

  5. The International Labour Organization (ILO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations that deals with labour issues pertaining to international labour standards. The organization received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1969. Its headquarters are located in Geneva, Switzerland.

  6. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is an international organisation that was conceived on 22 July 1944 originally with 45 members and came into existence on 27 December 1945 when 29 countries signed the agreement, with a goal to stabilise exchange rates and assist the reconstruction of the world’s international payment system. Its headquarters are located in Washington, D.C.

  7. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the United Nations' global development network. It advocates for change and connects countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. UNDP operates in 177 countries, working with nations on their own solutions to global and national development challenges. Its headquarters are located in New York.

  8. United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) was created by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 1946, to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II. In 1953, UNICEF became a permanent part of the United Nations System and its name was shortened from the original United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund but it has continued to be known by the popular acronym based on this old name. Its headquarters are located in New York.
