8. An epidemic occurs when new cases of a certain disease exceed and affect a large number of people. An epidemic may be restricted to one locale, however if it spreads to other countries or continents and affects a substantial number of people, it may be termed a pandemic.

9. Forest fire is also known as wild fire, brush fire, bushfire, desert fire, grass fire, hill fire and vegetation fire. Wildfires occur on every continent except Antarctica.
