  1. Pt. Ravi Shankar was an Indian musician and composer who played the sitar. He has been described as the best-known contemporary Indian musician.

  2. Nikhil Ranjan Banerjee was an eminent Indian classical sitarist of the Maihar Gharana.

  3. Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia is an Indian classical instrumentalist and is known as the 'virtuoso' and a 'living legend' in the Eastern Classical genre. He is a player of the bansuri, the Indian bamboo flute.

  4. Bhaskar Nath is an Indian classical instrumentalist. He plays the Shehnai beloning to Meerut Shehnai Gharana. He is a child prodigy.

  5. Allauddin Khan was a Bengali sarodiya and multi-instrumentalist, composer and one of the most renowned music teachers of the 20th century in Indian classical music. He played Shehnai.

  6. Ustad Bundu Khan was born in Delhi in a family of musicians. He received his early training in sarangi from his father Ali Jan Khan and later from his uncle Mamman Khan.

  7. Vishnu Govind Jog is better known as V. G. Jog. He was an Indian violinist. He was the foremost exponent of the violin in the Hindustani music tradition in the 20th century. He is credited for introducing this instrument into Hindustani music.

  8. Pannalal Ghosh is also known as Amal Jyoti Ghosh. He was a Bengali Indian flute (bansuri) player and composer. He was a disciple of Allauddin Khan. He is credited with giving the flute its status in Hindustani classical music.

  9. Shiv Kumar Sharma is an Indian Santoor player. The Santoor is a folk instrument from Kashmir and Jammu. He is often referred to by the title Pandit.

  10. Bhajan Sopori is an Indian instrumentalist. He is a player of Santoor. He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1993 and the Padma Shri in 2004.

  11. Dr. Lakshminarayana Subramaniam is an acclaimed Indian violinist, composer and conductor. He is trained in the classical Carnatic music tradition and Western classical music and renowned for his virtuoso playing techniques and compositions in orchestral fusion.

  12. Ramesh Mishra is an Indian sarangi player. He comes from a family of sarangi players and studied from an early age from a number of his older relatives. He is a disciple of Ravi Shankar and has made numerous recordings. In addition to his performances of Indian classical music, he has recorded with the American rock band Aerosmith (on the 1997 album Nine Lives). Mishra was awarded a Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2008.
