1. Solan is located 50 kilometres south of state capital Shimla.

2. Shimla is the capital city of Himachal Pradesh. The city is named after the goddess Shyamala Devi, an incarnation of the Hindu Goddess Kali.

8. Palampur is a green hill station. The town has derived its name from the local word "pulum'', meaning lots of water.
