  7. The Dalai Lama is a high lama in the Gelug or "Yellow Hat" school of Tibetan Buddhism. The literal meaning of the word Dalai Lama is "guru or teacher".       The 14th Dalai Lama - Tenzin Gyatso – is the current Dalai Lama. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989.
