  1. The drumstick is a fairly common vegetable grown all over India and Pakistan.

        It is valued mainly for the tender pod. It is antibacterial and a wonderful cleanser.

        Nutritionally, drumstick pods and leaves are of great value as sources of calcium,                  phosphorus and vitamin C. The leaves, flowers and fruits of drumstick which are used as         vegetable have great nutritional value.

  1. Cinnamon trees are native to South East Asia, and its origin was a mystery to Europeans until the sixteenth century. It is a spice obtained from the inner bark of several trees.

  2. Cashew tree is small and evergreen, growing to 10-12 m tall, with a short, often irregularly shaped trunk. Its English name derives from the Portuguese name for the fruit of the cashew tree, Caju.

  3. The betel leaf is known as Paan in Assamese/Urdu/Hindi/Oriya/Bengali, and Tambula and Nagavalli in Sanskrit.

  4. It is said that mango tree is 4000-year-old. In327 BC, when the army of Alexander the Great entered the Indus Valley, they saw it there. Its flowers are dedicated to the moon.

  5. Balsam is a term used for various pleasantly scented plant products, and the plants which produce them.

  6. Sesame is grown primarily for its oil-rich seeds, which come in a variety of colours, from cream-white to charcoal-black. It is called til in Hindi.

  7. Bitter gourd is widely grown in Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean for its edible fruit, which is among the most bitter of all fruits.

  8. Eucalyptus may take the form of a low shrub or a very large tree. Itsleaves are covered with oil glands.

  9. Romans were probably the first to experiment with the preparation of mustard as a condiment.
